Over the past 2 1/2 years, travel has become a much bigger part of my life than I imagined. My youngest child stopped coming home during college breaks, including the summer, due to a job and my middle child moved to the east coast for law school. So I started traveling to the east coast multiple times every year plus, without my youngest coming home, my husband and I started traveling more on our own. And even more recently, my mother moved into a new house in a retirement community and I traveled to Maine to help her multiple times. And on top of that last year, we had to cancel two vacations.
Since our travel plans changed so much last year from what we had expected, I'm making some goals this year for travel and it will be interesting to see how it turns out.
Kids - I expect multiple trips to see each of my kids this year, including sports tournaments, weekend visits, and our middle child's law school graduation in May.
Mom - I'm hoping to visit my mother in Maine at least 3-4 times this year.
Vacations - I hope to have three vacations this year. It sounds like a lot but two of them are rescheduled from last year.
Jamaica - my husband used to live in Jamaica and we were scheduled to go visit his family friends this past November when the hurricane hit. Crossing our fingers we can make it there this spring.
Maine - really, really hoping we can spend a couple of weeks in Maine with my family - it's an annual trip we've been doing for over 25 years and it didn't happen last year.
Europe - we cancelled a trip there last fall and planned to go to California instead and then had to cancel that trip, also. I'm still narrowing down countries I want to visit.
